The Christmas ad is the work of Adam&EveDDB New York and is set to the track Lonely People by America.

Kroger’s annual holiday commercial celebrates how sharing food can bring people together, even in unlikely circumstances.

Titled ‘The Case of the Disappearing Food,’ the spot features a cast of the retailer’s signature animated characters, affectionately known as Krojis, who are recruited to tell the story of a woman who has lost her holiday spirit, only to rediscover the joy of the season from an unexpected source.

When a young boy crosses paths with the older neighbor several times, his curiosity is piqued and he soon realizes that she is lonely. Amid the bustling preparations for his family’s holiday celebration, his parents begin to notice something odd, food for their festive feast is vanishing. The mystery unravels when they discover the boy has been secretly taking the food, not for himself, but to surprise the neighbor.

The campaign will appear on Netflix, cable, streaming and online now until January 1.
