And we are on our way!

We are talking about Gratitude. The first challenge in “Become an Idea Machine” is to…

    Solve 10 Hard Gratitude Problems.

This is to stop complaining about things we don’t like and instead recognize the possibilities of being thankful in what we normally see as a negative.

Mike Cernovich has similarly devoted a complete chapter of Gorilla Mindset to this reframing problem.

Here is my list of 10 things I don’t like, turning them into opportunities I can be grateful for.

    1. I am grateful for long commutes…

… because they give me the opportunity to read, listen to podcasts or talk to people.

    2. I am grateful for going shopping…

… because it lets me acquire food I need to survive, and it gives me new ideas for the way products are marketed and sold.

    3. I am grateful for living in a poor neighborhood…

… because it motivates me to search for a better living situation.

    4. I am grateful for living next to a city with strong differences between rich and poor…

… because it shows me what you can actually achieve.

    5. I am grateful for ’difficult’ people…

… because it forces me to think about how I chose my words to talk to them – or actually makes it easier to let go.

    6. I am grateful for having been in the corporate hamster wheel…

… because otherwise, I would not have rethought my living situation so strongly.

    7. I am grateful for people with limited thinking and scarcity mentality…

… because they will force me to reevaluate my own thought patterns.

    8. I am grateful for being almost 40 and having less time to change…

… because it pushes me to take things much more seriously.

    9. I am grateful for anything that is difficult or that people “hate”…

… because that can be a great business opportunity.

    10. I am grateful for not being rich (yet)…

… because I have to evaluate what is really important in my life.

    Gratitude

Bonus: I am grateful for Jesus riding a dinosaur in my living room…

… because he can teach me dinosaur riding. It’s good to have a license from Jesus.
