Shane Gillis stumbles into the wrong commercial in Bud Light’s latest college football ad
In ‘Wrong Commercial,’ things go hilariously off-script when the comedian realizes he’s on the set of a high-fashion cologne ad.
In its newest ad, Bud Light swaps drama for laughs as comedian Shane Gillis finds himself on the wrong set.
‘Wrong Commercial,’ the latest spot in the beer giant’s college football campaign, turns a serious, high-fashion concept into pure comedic chaos.
The ad kicks off with all the hallmarks of a luxury cologne commercial: stark black-and-white visuals, a shadowy tunnel and a runway model lounging on a chesterfield sofa as a guitarist wails in the background. Enter Gillis, dressed in workwear, holding a Bud Light and looking wildly out of place.

Breaking the fourth wall, Gillis halts the action with a confused shrug. “Wait,” he says, gesturing at the over-the-top setup. “This isn’t my commercial. I think I’m supposed to be André.”
The ad cuts to André – Bud Light’s intended star – on a much more fitting stage. Surrounded by friends, cold beers in hand, André is the life of the party, cheering on his team.

The self-aware humor is a signature move for the Anheuser Busch brand, which has been doubling down on comedic storytelling this football season. Gillis made his debut with the brand in August in the ad ‘Dean’s Office,’ where a university dean used cold beers as leverage to coax confessions from a student, faculty and even himself.
‘Wrong Commercial’ is now live across Bud Light’s and Gillis’s social media channels, as well as TV and streaming platforms.
